Why were drawn to coaching wrestling?
I grew up in a huge wrestling family. Dad and all my uncles wrestled, then there was my brothers and me. Grew up in Ponca City where the sport was huge and our family loved it.
What is your favorite memory from when you participated in school sports?
Comradery with my teammates having to go through all the highs and lows together. To this day I still have several best friends that I wrestled with back in junior high and high school.
What do you feel your greatest achievement has been this far in your career?
My greatest achievement is when I see that I have made an impact on a kid that didn't believe in themselves, then by the end of the season all their hard work and dedication pays off in a way that they can see and feel for themselves.
What do you want your student-athletes to take away from your coaching and leadership?
The passion and drive that they give to wrestling and school is the same passion and drive that they will need to be successful in life. We aren't just teaching wrestling, I want them to leave me knowing how to get through the difficult and the good times in any part of their lives.
